Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Assistant Project Manager:

#3. Must be able to travel to job sites.

#4. No more than 3 jobs in the last 10 years

Responsibilities of the Assistant Project Manager:

Entry-level position designed to support the successful execution of all assigned projects by assisting the Project Manager. Provide support to facilitate the planning and coordination of construction activities to ensure that all project objectives are accomplished.

  • Documentation Management – Generates project documentation at request; processes day-to-day administrative tasks (i.e. daily reports, extra work authorizations, safety compliance, RFIs, project photo logs, etc.) per Project Manager authorization; supports Project Manager with submittals, submittal log, and schedule of values
  • Project Correspondence – Compose and/or edit letters, memos, internal/external reports, and procedures as directed by the Project Manager; estimates change pricing (within duration of construction) for the client
  • Pre-Job Planning – Reviews and implements Scope of Work (SOW); completes buy-out process with all trades required for project execution
  • Material Tracking – Assists Project Manager and Superintendent in receiving, logging and accounting for owner-furnished items
  • Schedules – Maintains in-depth schedules for all projects; adheres to a strict timetable, ensuring milestones are reached and deadlines are met
  • Customer Relations and Communications – Maintains outstanding client relationships; consults with clients to determine project needs, as directed by the Project Manager; keeps clients appraised on progress
  • Punch List – Assists Project Manager, ensuring punch list is proactively completed to meet project closeout deadlines
  • Walk-Through – Performs walk-through and warranty with clients following project completion
  • Information Technology – Learns and becomes proficient Microsoft Excel, Word, Procore, P6 Scheduling, Bluebeam and Sage300
  • Other Duties – Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Manager and/or Project Executive

Requirements of the Project Manager:

  • Minimum of five years of commercial construction experience in a Project Manager capacity (commercial and design-build preferred)
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • Thorough knowledge of trades and computer literate. Office experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook), strong familiarity with project management software (Procore, P6 Scheduling, Bluebeam Software, & Sage300 desired)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret documents such as architectural/structural drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals needed
  • Tilt Wall Experience a Plus
