POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating and / or providing academic support, information and services to students / prospective students in a single program area or across a number of program areas that may include but is not limited to admissions, financial aid, advising, career services, international students, disability services, etc.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of programs and related college services available to students and / or potential students that foster student success.

Ability to interpret and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to keep up-to-date on trends and best practices related to program area through professional development activities.

Knowledge and ability to guide students / potential students regarding educational issues such as course and program selection, class scheduling, TSI compliance, standards of academic progress, adjustment to college life, study habits, career planning, etc.

Ability to create / provide training sessions, workshops and seminars that promote the student experience.

Ability to develop positive, strategic working relationships with internal / external stakeholders and constituents in order to promote the college experience.

Able to interact with staff to coordinate training venues, media services, and classroom reservations / set-up at college / location facilities.

Ability to assimilate information from various sources in order to make informed decisions.

Must be able to manage multiple initiatives and be flexible in a fast-paced constantly changing environment. Must be ethical and able to maintain confidentiality pertaining to student records.

Able to effectively manage work responsibilities, establish priorities, and accurately record, proof, and compare data.

Must be able to listen effectively and have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in order to interact with individuals.

Must possess excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a team-oriented setting. Ability to utilize computer technology to access information, maintain records and prepare reports.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Occasionally may be required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree plus two (2) years of work related experience. Official transcripts will be required. Must have a current and valid driver's license for off-site travel.

Ability to work extended hours beyond the regular 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m. workday including nights and weekends. Will be subject to a criminal background check.

Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for coordinating college and / or special program / population activities to meet program objectives. Specific objectives vary, but generally relate to special student populations or a specific grant targeted student population and may include any of the following services i.

e., advising, training, tutoring, placement, assessment, mediating, evaluating, interpreting, etc.

Recruits students / prospective students from the college service area. Publicizes program services through public and private information sources and coordinates program(s) with existing college services.

Develops forms, handouts, and brochures used in program; coordinates production and distribution activities.

Acts as a liaison with internal / external entities to assist and / or enhance program to increase enrollment or to promote the District.

Make classroom presentations; develops and / or provides training through workshops and seminars to inform and / or recruit students;

organize and implement events to recognize special accomplishments of recipients; plan and organize special cultural events / field trips to meet program and / or funding source requirements.

Process checks (stipends) according to program or grant regulations as applicable.

Responsible for developing and maintaining database of students served which is utilized in periodic reports to college officials or local, state, federal or private agencies.

Utilizes excellent interpersonal / presentation skills and communicates and expresses ideas effectively both orally and in writing.

Provides excellent customer service.

Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Performs other duties as assigned.
