Custom Metal Designs Inc is Hiring a Shipping and Receiving Lead (Manufacturing) Near Oakland, FL

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to join our team. The Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for the daily operations of the shipping area, including but not limited to safely loading/unloading goods, receiving, handling, inventory control, tracking and reporting.

Location: We are in Oakland, FL, 23 minutes from Orlando.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the shipping area.
  • Process and ensure timely delivery of all expedited product delivery requests.
  • Responsible for daily driver’s routes and runs.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipping, both domestic and international, with a variety of transportation companies and carriers.
  • Negotiate a variety of shipping rates including LTL, truckload, small package, and international.
  • Maintain accurate records for shipment status, and use software to track, check, prioritize and route orders.
  • Complete daily and weekly logistical tasks and participate in meetings as needed.
  • Manage all important documents such as advanced shipping notice, pick slips, bills of lading, including compliance documentation.
  • Direct the flow of packages from preparation to shipment.
  • Inspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed orders.
  • Ensure that all shipping materials are available, including boxes, labels, packing materials, and postage meters.
  • Train staff on proper shipping techniques and safety procedures
  • Resolve issues regarding shipped orders.
  • Assist in evaluating new package materials and systems.
  • Sorting, palatizing, strapping, and wrapping materials for safe transportation as needed.
  • Build custom shipping crates for non-standard products as needed.
  • Load and unload freight equipment, material, and machines to be shipped or received as needed.
  • Package outgoing orders for delivery according to common carrier requirements for national or international shipping.
  • Make sure that all goods are safely secure and all equipment to be shipped is free of damages.
  • Assure all purchased items received are accurate and undamaged.
  • Ensure materials are accounted for and delivered to the correct location.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop a schedule for assembling and displaying to optimize processes.
  • Update product inventory as products is received and added to the inventory.
  • Packaging products for return to vendors and filling out any paperwork necessary.
  • Outside process purchase orders prepared and received in once finished
  • Close work orders in ERP system.
  • Operate forklift to transport materials.
  • Maintain motorized vehicle trainer certification, and train personnel as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal regulations, quality policies, specifications, and instructions.
  • Utilize and abide by ISO requirements, ensuring compliance and safety practices.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience as a shipping supervisor.
  • Hold a valid driver license.
  • knowledge in how to operate forklift, hand and electrical tools.
  • Knowledge of ERP system.
  • Ability to read blueprints and identify parts.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 75 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working on multiple projects at once.
  • Possess a high degree of safety awareness when performing all tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Detailed oriented and well organized, with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to adapt and perform in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Follow legal regulations and company policies.
  • Work well with others and work as a team.
  • Maintain working area clean and organized.
  • Display and maintain enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a shipping supervisor.
  • Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
