Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for designing and implementing robust and scalable systems. You will support the system/subsystem design, development, and support of a major, high-use Full Motion Video system. The incumbent will serve as a network architect supporting engineering design and integration of our FMV solutions into enterprise and tactical, edge environments. Primary tasks include hands on router, switch and infrastructure configuration and administration, assessing and applying network configurations specific to multicast delivery and advanced technical troubleshooting of large networks and video as part of a team of contract and government engineering professionals. You will work with internal product development and third-party vendor solutions, providing technical input to architecture and design plans ensuring the successful integration of the end-to-end solution. The successful candidate will have experience in the unique requirements deploying IT systems for the DoD along with knowledge of DoD accreditation processes.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Qualified candidates will possess an expert level understanding of network infrastructure design and best practice principles including routing and switching concepts and technologies, multicast routing, advanced IP addressing, dynamic routing protocols. MPLS, Secure and resilient routing solutions, load balancing and traffic management, Quality of Service (QOS).
Plans, documents, and implements network component changes as part of new network deployments or hardware/technology refreshes.
Captures and analyzes network requirements from application engineers, systems administrators, operations teams and transforms them into operable and secure network changes.
Opens support cases with vendors or service providers as necessary. Manages cases to resolution.
Hands on experience with the configuration, management and troubleshooting of Cisco devices (9300, 9500, ASA).
Configuration, management and troubleshooting of the F5 load balancer.
Troubleshooting and problem diagnosis skills developed from proven experience.
Works with a wide range of engineering resources as needed, ensuring that end-to-end network design is completed.
This is an on-site position, averaging 80% at Ashburn, VA and 20% at Ft. Meade, MD. Some travel domestic and international required up to 10%.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Four-year college degree in a related technical field, plus a minimum of six years of related experience, or the combined equivalent of education and experience.
Must be a United States citizen. Active Secret Clearance or eligible to reactivate clearance required.
Must have a strong hardware and software background, with an emphasis on network architecture.
An in-depth understanding of end-to-end secure network concepts, technologies and protocols including access control, next generation, web application and stateful firewall technologies, load balancer solutions, intrusion prevention, Encryption (IPSEC, SSL, PKI), Security event information management systems, Proxy services.
Current CCNP, CCDP, or higher Cisco certification desired.
Experience with Open-Source Software (OSS) solutions (Linux, Postgres) a plus.
Relevant experience with DoD accreditation processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to solve complex and difficult system design and engineering problems.
Ability to travel for meetings, briefings, demonstrations, and integration/test activities.
Familiarity with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) concepts of operation and the net-work architecture employed to disseminate Full Motion Video a plus.
