JOB PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Maximize the sale of lift trucks and other products within a defined geographical territory and/or an established
number of accounts as defined by branch management. Develop existing accounts and identify new prospects.
Problem-solve, consult, and assist existing and potential new customers. Participate in an accelerated training
program with the goal of advancement to Account Manager (within 12 to 18 months). Participate in a team selling
approach including various other sales and service personnel with specialty roles. This position reports to the
Sales Manager or Branch Manager.
PERCENTAGE
OF TIME KEY TASKS
75-80% Sales
Maintain entire sales process in the territory and/or assigned accounts. Develop existing
accounts and identify new prospects. Analyze opportunities, identify key personnel, and develop
strong business relationships. Consult and problem solve to enhance the Company’s position in
existing and target accounts. Develop a territory management plan to maximize time with
customers. Develop proposals and forecasts. Develop and conduct product demonstrations and
sales presentations. Prepare quotations and customer correspondence. Utilize online resources
to maintain accurate records of sales calls, customer files, and sales activity information. Discuss
sales activities with Sales Manager and/or Branch Manager.
10-15% Training
Participate in training programs locally, regionally, and at the corporate level to enhance product
knowledge and sales skills.
05-15% Miscellaneous
participation in sales meetings, resolution of accounts receivable or service issues, and providing
assistance to other members of the sales team or in team building exercises, at the discretion of
sales management. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Less than 2 years related experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Extensive travel (over 20%)
Overnight stays (0-5%)
Job requires employee to drive a lift truck
Job requires employee to drive a personal vehicle to conduct company business > 20% per week (more than 8
hours) and an MVR is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Professional Selling, Business Administration, or Marketing. Possess intermediate computer
skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites, excellent communication skills, relationship building and
time management skills. Possess several years of successful sales experience; business to business (B2B)
experience; problem solving capabilities; strong sense of urgency, responsibility, and self -motivation; and the ability
to work in a team environment. Ability and willingness to work outside normal business hours to prepare for sales
activities.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Per 8-hour shift. Sit 3 hours. Stand 3 hours. Both typical and non-typical office environment (low to moderate noise
level, low exposure to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, and vibrations). Regular interaction with others and
performs a degree of independent work. Infrequently lift up to 50 pounds. Physical and mental demands are akin
to the majority of office positions with prolonged periods of sitting and prolonged use of a computer/keyboard.
Infrequent lifting, walking and climbing stairs. Occasional use of office equipment (copiers, printers, etc.).
