Job Title: Senior Accountant (Manufacturing)

Job Overview: As a Senior Accountant with manufacturing experience, you will play a pivotal role in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance within the manufacturing sector. Your responsibilities will include overseeing financial reporting, analyzing cost data, budgeting, and providing strategic financial guidance to optimize operational efficiency and profitability.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Provide financial reports and analysis to management to support decision-making processes.
  2. Cost Analysis and Management:

    • Monitor manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
    • Analyze cost drivers and trends to identify areas for cost reduction or efficiency improvement.
    • Develop and implement cost accounting methodologies to accurately allocate costs to products or processes.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate the financial impact of operational changes and initiatives.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Assist in the development of annual operating budgets and periodic forecasts.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to explain deviations from expectations.
    • Work with department managers to develop budgetary goals and track performance against targets.
    • Identify opportunities to optimize resource allocation and improve budgeting processes.
  4. Compliance and Internal Controls:

    • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
    • Participate in internal audits and assist in the implementation of audit recommendations.
    • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial misstatements.
    • Support external audits by providing documentation and explanations as required.
  5. Process Improvement:

    • Streamline financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Identify opportunities for automation or technology adoption to improve financial operations.
    • Implement best practices in financial management and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
