The Senior Accountant reports to the Director of Finance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, and financial reporting, as well as financial profitability, external audit, grant accounting, analysis and other special projects as assigned. The Senior Accountant must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm about the program and the Pine Rest organization.

Our services include a state-of-the-art psychiatric urgent care center and a soon-to-be-built pediatric behavioral health center, outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization (day programs), assessment and testing, residential, addiction treatment and specialty services such as crisis response, employee assistance programs, forensic psychiatry and psychology, and neuromodulation. On-the-job educational programs for nurses, psychologists, advanced practice providers, psychiatrists, and chaplains are equipping the next generation of care providers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions.
•Maintain investment balances including returns on investment.
•Assist team in software upgrades and implementation.
•Track spending and accounting for Grants including internal and external sponsors.
•Act as audit liaison during external audit and single audit.
•Provide support for external reporting such as IRS form 990.
•Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures. •Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
•Prepare financial statements in timely and accurate manner.
•Support month-end and year-end close process.
•Responsible to uphold the healing ministry of Christ through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence.
•Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatic training.
•Performs other duties or functions as assigned.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities for Senior Grant Accountant:
•Manage sponsor invoicing activities by preparing required financial reports for grants and contracts.
•Collaborate with program managers and grant directors to develop grant budgets and monitor spending.
•Monitor grant expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and grant guidelines.
•Promote compliance with federal and state regulations by maintaining a current working knowledge of regulations relevant to grants and contracts and communicating regulatory information to appropriate administrators and staff.
•Approve/Confirm the availability, allowability and appropriateness of activities and expenditures of internally and externally sponsored grants and contracts in accordance with federal, state, institutional and/or other agency guidelines, cost principles and cost accounting standards.
•Perform grant closeout functions including reconciliations, liquidations, budget finalizations.
•Prepare for and participate in grant audits, providing documentation and support as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
•Provide training and mentorship to General Accountants
Required/Desired Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience:
•BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
•Minimum ten years (10) of related accounting experience, preferably in healthcare or non-profit related organizations.
•Experience working with external audits and creating financial statements required.
•Experience as Senior Accountant preferred.
•Experience in grant accounting preferred. Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities:
•Ability to provide care/service within the scope of: Holding a conviction to express Christ's love and compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence.
•Ability to provide culturally inclusive care with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community setting.
•Excellent accounting software user and administrative skills to include MS Office, EPIC, Great Plains, Prospero.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation skills.
•Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
•Awareness of business trends.
