Covenant House Missouri is Hiring a Custodian / Maintenance Assistant (PT) Near St. Louis, MO
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Facility Assistant performs routine and heavy cleaning duties in order to keep the buildings and property in a clean, working, and orderly condition. Also responsible to regular landscaping, snow and debris removal as well as routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, in a manner which reflects the mission, philosophy and policies of Covenant House Missouri.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Facility Manager.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following:
Responsible for conducting routine maintenance and/or repairs of all CHMO facilities and vehicles including:
Conduct monthly routine maintenance at all sites.
Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and general repairs to various sites.
Respond to maintenance requests within 48 hours.
Ensure all vehicles are clean and functioning. This includes oil changes, tire rotations, license renewals, etc.
Responsible for repotting the outcomes of routine equipment and building inspections to the supervisor to determine needs and repairs including:
Work with mechanical systems including, but not limited to, sprinkler system, heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical, telephone, and security system.
Assist in the coordination of outside services if needed, with the Facilities Manager.
Provide general janitorial duties including:
Maintain prope1ty appearance at all sites.
Ensure snow and ice are removed from sidewalks and parking areas in a timely manner.
Ensure storage areas are orderly and free of clutter.
Provide furniture moving and donation pickup as needed.
Clean, buff, and wax floors and clean carpets.
Clean laundry and restroom areas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
This position does not have any supervisory duties.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Regular internal contact with CHMO staff and outside agencies.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required and HVAC or certification in related areas.
Experience:
Minimum one year experience with building maintenance and knowledge of commonly used concepts, concepts, practices, and procedures utilized in housekeeping.
Requirements:
Valid Class E Driver's License.
Ability to lift or move up to 100 lbs. with or without accommodation.
Ability to work in outside in weather conditions.
Ability to operate various maintenance equipment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Accessibility via agency cell phone outside normal Administrative business hours, holidays, weekends, and/or on an emergency basis.
Work environment/physical demands:
Considerable concentration.
Constant interruptions.
Extreme noise levels when working with lawn equipment.
Constant traveling and driving.
On-call responsibilities.
Moderate sitting, eyestrain.
Constant standing, walking, bending and lifting.
