Andy's Seasoning, Inc is Hiring a Maintenance Mechanic Near St. Louis, MO

POSITION SUMMARY: Skilled Maintenance Mechanic oversees and is responsible for various maintenance programs. Incumbent is responsible for daily operation of machinery and ensures that plant maintenance operations run smoothly. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited, to providing technical support, troubleshooting and repairs in order to aid in the highest production of quality products. Assures all needed plant and office equipment for the day are fully operational to minimize production downtime and prevent customer delays. Builds, maintains, and manages business relationships professionally and ethically with all clients, contractors and vendors.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES - MAJOR JOB OBJECTIVES

Vendor Relations

· Ability to oversee contractors' project through completion.

· Lead and direct outside contractors and vendors.

· Ensure vendors comply with established maintenance schedules as required.

· Flexible work hours to accommodate to projects and/or meetings.

Preventive Maintenance

· Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines.

· Knowledgeable in maintenance working with electricity.

· Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications and troubleshooting malfunctions.

· Keep a preventative maintenance log on all equipment in CMMS.

· Perform preventative maintenance on food processing equipment.

· Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.

· Control downtime by informing management of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitor compliance.

Routine Maintenance

· Inspect and servicing equipment and facilities in accordance with maintenance schedules.

· Track equipment downtime and document maintenance activities in maintenance smart.

· Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventories; anticipate needed equipment, parts and supplies; place and expedite orders; verify receipt.

· Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.

· Maintain computerized records to track and repair maintenance activities for all machines.

Facility/Grounds Maintenance

· Ensure facility and ground maintenance is adequate.

· Maintain schedule for routine grounds upkeep and facility maintenance.

· Maintain clean and safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

Supervision

· Assign tasks to maintenance assistant.

· Ability to provide evaluation and disciplinary action for direct reports.

Quality Assurance

· Prepare for quality assurance audits.

· Identify process improvement and promote efficiency in maintenance operations.

· Rectify facility or equipment related problems identified during quality assurance audits.

· Comply with all plant policies and procedures.

· Comply with all food safety, quality, and legal requirements written in each SOP pertaining to job duties.

· Report any infractions of Food Safety, Quality and Legality to supervisor.

· Follow personal hygiene practices as documented.


OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Diagnose machine failures and affect professional repairs as required.
  • Responsible for the Tool Management program.
  • Manages the Lock Out Tag Out program.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and facilities.
  • Stay abreast of governing physical structures in and around the plant.
  • Takes corrective action to remedy instances of non-compliance.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, establishing personal networks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable and certified in Electrical Systems.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with PLC.
  • Knowledge of large industrial mixing systems.
  • Knowledge of VFF machines.
  • Maintenance leadership experience preferred
  • Experience in reading pneumatics and electrical diagrams.
  • Good understanding of machine operations and the interaction of electrical/electronic and mechanical components.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Experience in Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Experience in safety precautions and programs.
  • Experience in troubleshooting machine failure and ability to diagnose.
  • Knowledge of three (3) phase electrical equipment repair.

EDUCATION:

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college/technical school; or B.S. degree in related field

High school diploma required.

EXPERIENCE:

At least two years of experience in a similar role. Experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment preferred.

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/MACHINES USED:

Computer, copy machine, fax machine, laptop, slide projector, printer, Nortel phone system, power tools, hand tools, levels, grinders, amp meters and volt probes. (Tool list in not all inclusive)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office conditions apply. Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work. Must be able climb up to 60 feet, sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard. Job may require reaching at shoulder level and below waist. Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds and carry objects.
