Counseling In Schools is Hiring an Outreach specialist Near Brooklyn, NY

Counseling in Schools, Inc. (CIS) is seeking applicants to work in a NYC public high school in the Erasmus Campus located in Flatbush, Brooklyn as a Family Outreach Specialist working directly with students and their families.

The Family Outreach Specialist will work as part of a team of school professionals tasked with the goal of increasing family engagement and communication with a focus on re-engaging students, many of whom have histories of chronic absenteeism, and disciplinary concerns within the school community.

We are seeking candidates who have experience in supporting students and empowering families to help get them back on track in their academic growth and focus.

The candidate filling this role will be responsible for conducting regular outreach to families including student attendance, coordination and facilitation of workshops and meetings for both students and their families, restorative practices and accountability, assistance with identification of community resources available to families, and more.

Eligible applicants must have experience working with NYC adolescents and families. Experience working in a high school setting is a plus.

This is a full time school based position reporting Monday through Friday 8am-4pm with a flexible schedule to accommodate parent schedules, meetings and events.

Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree required. Professional written and verbal communication skills Strong organization, time management and multitasking abilities Self-starter, takes initiative, motivated Works collaboratively in a team based setting Experience in school settings, and / or social services Restorative Practice experience a plus Experience providing guidance and support to adults Experience creating and facilitating workshops Additional Info : This position is full-time and in-person in the Brooklyn, NY Salary is $45-55K commensurate with experience.

Position reports to the school from September through June, following NYC DOE calendar with potential additional work and salary over the summer months.

Required : NYC DOE fingerprint clearance required Ability to work on-site Monday through Friday Benefits : Summer Paid Leave : Unless an additional role is taken on, we provide a paid two-month leave during the summer.
