Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Vice President of Sales to lead our sales team and drive growth in our Truck brokerage, International, and Intermodal divisions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in sales leadership roles within the logistics industry, with a strong emphasis on truck brokerage and intermodal services. Additionally, they will have experience developing and mentoring sales teams and new sales employees to achieve their full potential while staying ahead of industry trends and maintaining a strong network within the logistics community. This position will report directly to the President/CEO and will collaborate closely to develop and implement strategies to meet performance and sales targets.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Implement Strategies for Business Growth:
    • Directly report to the President/CEO, driving strategic sales plans to expand customer base and enhance profitability through new business development.
    • Collaborate with the leadership team to align business development priorities with the company's vision and strategy.
    • Foster and uphold organizational culture, values, and reputation across the industry.
  1. Hiring and Developing Sales Personnel:
    • Spearhead recruitment efforts aligned with organizational growth objectives.
    • Identify, evaluate, and onboard top-tier sales talent.
    • Establish a comprehensive training program to ensure sales personnel are equipped with in-depth knowledge of company services and transportation solutions.
    • Institute potential mentorship programs pairing seasoned sales professionals with junior members to facilitate knowledge transfer and skill development.
  1. Managing Sales Personnel:
    • Offer continual guidance, mentorship, and coaching to the sales staff, instilling a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
    • Empower sales managers with the autonomy to lead their teams effectively while providing necessary support and resources.
    • Implement performance management systems, setting clear goals and metrics, and providing regular feedback to drive performance improvements.
    • Create a positive and inclusive team culture that celebrates successes, fosters collaboration, and encourages innovation.
  1. Networking and Industry Engagement:
    • Actively participate in industry functions, trade shows, and associations to expand network and uncover new business opportunities.
    • Stay abreast of market trends and communicate relevant insights to internal stakeholders.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners and internal departments to foster collaboration, drive business growth, and deliver unparalleled service.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in sales leadership roles within the logistics industry, with a focus on truck brokerage and intermodal services.
  3. Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets, driving revenue growth, and building successful sales teams.
  4. Experience in recruiting, onboarding, and developing sales talent, with a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  5. In-depth knowledge of truck brokerage and intermodal transportation operations, market dynamics, and industry best practices.
  6. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence.
  7. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies in a competitive market environment.
  8. Proficiency in CRM software and sales analytics tools.
  9. Ability to Travel as needed.
