Corewell Health Corporate is Hiring a Physician - Hospitalist - Grand Rapids, MI Near Grand Rapids, MI
As a Hospitalist Physician at Corewell Health West, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care. You’ll collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, manage acute and chronic medical conditions, and contribute to the overall well-being of our patients.
Essential Functions:
- Manage acute medical conditions, including admissions, discharges, and rounding.
- The Hospitalists cover both Butterworth (679 acute care beds) and Blodgett (248 acute care beds) Hospitals.
- Coordinate care with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance patient safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement initiatives, and case reviews.
- Mentor medical residents and students, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Excellent schedule of 175 shifts per year consisting primarily of 7 on/7 off; weeks starting on Tuesdays.
- 7 paid jeopardy shifts scattered throughout the year reduces high census days.
- A dedicated team of 8 nocturnists allows the day shift physicians with little to no night shifts required.
- Census goal of 15 to 17 for rounding shifts.

- Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
- Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
- Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
- Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
- Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
- Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.
- Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.
- Required Bachelor's Degree
- LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
- LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
