The Operations Project Manager is accountable for planning and executing projects by:
- Developing a project plan with milestones
- Assisting in the building of sound business requirements/stories
- Understanding the scope of complexities within a project
- Composing a project budget (if applicable)
- Directing and managing of day to day assigned tasks
- Managing vendor and Business Area relationships as required
- Adhering to Copart's Agile Framework best practice
- This position will collaborate with a team of Product Stakeholders, Product Analysts, Subject Matter Experts, vendors, etc. to effectively deliver projects/initiatives. This requires the capability to work in cross-functional teams and may include establishing vendor relationships, if vendor selection is a component of the project. It also requires strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- This position must be able to simultaneously manage multiple Infrastructure and Operation projects and support a number of business areas. You will function as Relationship Manager to a small number of business area managers in order to enhance communication between the business side and IT, as well as to elicit project requests, requirements and business area strategy.
- As a member of the Product Management Office, you will be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of the Project Management Methodology and may be expected to publish one or more roadmaps with ownership of maintaining them.
- The Project Manager must be able to present complex data/concepts in a simplified, understandable, and meaningful way.
- Establish project communications and monitoring and control mechanisms, to ensure status and issues are reported to business lead, executive sponsors, and senior management on a timely basis
- Manage day to day project activities ensuring deliverables are met, risks are identified and assessed, and issues are managed and resolved.
- Implement and utilize reporting and control mechanisms, and particular project change management approaches, to ensure status and issues are reported to business lead, executive sponsors and senior management on a timely basis.
- Leads testing efforts and ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner
- Performs other job duties as assigned by Infrastructure and Operations Management.
- Providing prompt and concise communication with our members, internal customers, and co-workers.
- Having a "Team Player" mentality.
- Following through on projects/tasks until customer satisfaction has been met.
- 4 Years of IT project management experience (preferably in the area of Infrastructure and Operations) required
- 4 year degree (BS) in Information Systems preferred
- Strong knowledge of IT Infrastructure or IT Operations
- Solid business knowledge
- Analytical and Project Management skills
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Agile or Kandan experience recommended
- PMI or other project management certification preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to solicit participation and input from others
- Experience with MS-Office with particularly strong skills in Word, Visio, and Excel
- Knowledge of and experience with software development teams, industry best practices, regulations & compliance, and quality assurance techniques
