Convoy of Hope is Hiring an Eurasia Regional Response Manager Near Springfield, MO

Ministry Function

The International Disaster Services (IDS) Eurasia Regional Response Manager manages disaster response operations, partnerships, inventory planning, etc. in Eurasia, both in the field and from Convoy of Hope (COH) Headquarters. This position works with local partners to ensure those affected by disasters are served well and with dignity. This position includes project management, both during response and peacetime. During responses, this position is deployable and will also serve in the Convoy of Hope Disaster Operations Center, as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Deploy to international disasters as a part of the initial team to provide oversight to the setup and function of relief operations. Upon returning, continue communication with field partners to ensure relief efforts are completed and reported accurately. This is primarily focused within Eurasia, but not exclusively.
  2. Provide management of responses for which COH does not have a physical field presence, consistently communicating with partners to ensure relief efforts are conducted, completed, and reported accurately. This includes ongoing email or text communication with team members and partners.
  3. Manage proposals, reports, assets, and monitoring and evaluation data for assigned responses. This includes fulfilling requirements and maintaining communication with project donors, as requested.
  4. Maintain ongoing communication and build new relationships with key partners in the region to ensure DS’ partners are ready should a response be needed.
  5. Facilitate consistent communication with the Convoy Eurasia Regional Leader and the IDS Sr. Director and collaborate closely, as needed.
  6. Ensure effective management of projects, during active responses and peacetime, which includes prioritizing tasks and working with team members to ensure successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
  7. Assist with training and preparing deployable team members and partners (COH HQ, program countries, etc.) concerning how to conduct a disaster response.
  8. Manage all funding with precision and integrity both in the field and remotely, working with partners, vendors, etc. on the ground.
  9. Work with the IDS Logistics Manager, coordinating disaster supplies in both Convoy and partner warehouses and assisting with the strategic planning of pre-positioning relief supplies in the region - all in partnership with regional team members to ensure accurate inventory and accounting once product arrives and is ultimately distributed.
  10. Maintain an ongoing working knowledge of global current affairs and disaster activity in the region. Provide any significant event updates to the IDS Sr. Director, ensuring the team is aware of all significant immediate and slow onset disaster events.
  11. Manage key IDS relationships with regional partners, agencies, organizations, donors, etc. as requested by the IDS Sr. Director. This could include occasional travel to meet with partners to increase operational efficiency and impact for Convoy.
  12. Assist with disaster preparedness and resiliency, deployment, and onboarding trainings through the presenting and refinement of materials, as requested.
  13. During active responses, when not deployed in the field, serve in a role assigned by the DOC Manager in the Disaster Operations Center.
  14. As a member of the Disaster Services team, support other programs as assigned.
  15. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Bachelor’s degree preferred; High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. 2 more years church or compassion ministry experience required.
  3. 2 more years experience in leadership and project management roles required.
  4. Multi-lingual preferred. Proficiency in at least two languages required, including at least one Eurasia-based language (in addition to English).
  5. International travel experience or having lived abroad required.
  6. Ability and willingness to travel, often on short notice required.
  7. Flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing situations and scenarios while maintaining a great attitude and the ability to make decisions quickly.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in creating, editing, and proofreading content conveying the program work of Convoy, within the organization, to partners and to Convoy’s target audience - including the ability to build quick rapport.
  9. Project management experience with demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  10. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain tact in very difficult situations.
  11. Basic first aid/CPR certification required or completed in the first year of employment.
  12. Ability to use a PC or Mac software programs and web-based systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Google Business, Monday.com, and Salesforce.
  13. Must complete a minimum of National Incident Management System courses — including 100, 200, 700, and 800 — prior to employment or within the first year of employment.
  14. Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
  15. Positively represent the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
  16. As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization's religious purposes for which it exists, and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct reports, but manages and supervises team members, partners, volunteers, etc., during responses or peacetime to ensure project completion.
