Our dedicated staff provides a wide range of direct services that address the individual needs of people with developmental disabilities, including those with the most severe disabilities.

CP Unlimited provides range of person-centered day and vocational services aimed at enhancing independence, community inclusion and vocational opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities. Our Day program Cora Hoffman Center is located in Staten Island and offer a comprehensive, intensive array of services individualized to meet each participant’s unique needs to learn skills for community living to the extent he or she is capable. Staff and families work together to provide programs that include opportunities for individuals to participate in integrated, community based activities.

CP of NYS is currently looking for a Full-Time Habilitation Counselor to implements and monitor individual program plans for participants served. Prepares notes, files and attends participants’ conferences. Encourages, implements and facilitates independence, inclusion, individuality and productivity.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in education or a human services field preferred or a minimum 60 college credits in education or related field
• 1 year experience working with people with developmental disabilities
• The ability to coordinate the movement of the arms, legs, and torso together in activities where the whole body is in motion, including the ability to exert one’s self physically over long periods of time such as standing for two (2) plus hours at a time.
• The ability to safely lift individuals to/from various surfaces.
• Must be willing to participate in and pass a 5 day Medication Class in Manhattan and demonstrate the ability to lift and transfer.
• Criminal background check is required.

The Habilitation Counselor is part of the 1199 Benefit Fund, which offers a comprehensive benefit package.

Pay: $17.32 - $18.28 per hour
