POSITION: Field Operations Manager
DIVISION: Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Account Manager and or Branch Manage
CLASSIFICATION: Salary-Exempt ($65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year) DOE
GENERAL PURPOSE:
To work directly under an Account manager and supervise several landscape maintenance crews that are responsible for but not limited to, mowing, trimming, blowing, and edging grass areas, pulling and spraying weeds, picking up trash and changing out trash cans and dog stations, fertilization, aeration, pruning of trees and shrubs, and cleaning properties of leaves. The main tasks of the Field operations manager consist of training, safety, quality control, and ensuring crews stay within their allotted budgets. You will also be required to aid account managers with dispatch, scheduling, crew check in, equipment maintenance and repair, misc. client requests, and odd jobs as assigned by the account manager. This job also includes snow removal supervision during the winter months.
HOURS:
Monday through Friday – 6:00am to 6:00pm and occasional weekends for landscape maintenance. For snow removal hours vary based on weather conditions, but include weekends, nights, holidays, and any time it snows, unless PTO has been approved in advance. All shifts are subject to change based on weather conditions and work load.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Work directly under the supervision of an Account manager, and work as a liaison between the field crews and the account manager.
· Ensure client standards are being met during each site visit.
· Meeting company and OSHA safety standards, ensuring all employees are following industry and company specific safety standards, and holding them accountable to those standards.
· Monitor work for quality and efficiency.
· Training crews on proper equipment use, maintenance, and safety
· Training crews on efficient work production to ensure they are producing a high-quality product to our clients within the allotted budget. This is to include on the job training, job mapping, job processing, frequent site checks and crew visits.
· Safely transporting equipment from job site to job site including proper loading and securing of trucks, trailers, and equipment.
· Ensuring all equipment, trucks and trailers are maintained properly, and all damages or improperly functioning equipment is reported immediately.
· Keeping track of crew budgets and working directly with the crew on jobs where they are struggling to perform to our standard. The object is to train the crews to be more efficient and productive.
· Demonstrate dependability and efficient work practices.
· Communicate all labor, equipment, material issues and needs with Account Manager immediately once identified.
· Train employees on proper use of equipment, and job site specific tasks.
· Train and coach foreman and laborers regarding consistent techniques.
· Inspect and report property/project conditions to Account Manager, including the use of photo documentation tool.
· Responsible for filling out all company required paper work e.g. Job Safety Analysis, time tracking, and DVIR
· Perform other tasks/duties as requested by Owner, Division Manager or Account Manager
SKILLS / CAPABILITIES
· Must have clear and consistent communication skills, bilingual Spanish and English. Both written and oral skills preferred.
· Should have experience at estimating landscape maintenance hours for tasks. For example, how long will it take to complete a fall clean up on this site.
· Must be good at time management, self-directed, and motivated.
· Must be proficient in Microsoft outlook, excel, PowerPoint, and comfortable learning new software programs as required.
· Must be able to manage and train up to 5 crews at a time.
· Must understand best management practices for quality and efficiency in landscape maintenance. Experience in Lean Production processes is preferred.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be able to utilize, train, and maintain all standard landscape maintenance equipment to include commercial “zero turn” mowers, blowers, trimmers, edgers, hedge shears, aerators, plow trucks, ATV/UTV’s, and all associated hand tools.
· Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in landscape maintenance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Lift up to 75 lbs.
· Good hearing, and sight
· Good manual dexterity
· Ability to stand, walk, balance, be on your feet, bending and stretching, and lifting for long durations throughout the day.
· Work in all types of weather conditions, including rain, heat, wind, snow, ice, and cold.
· Work at a fast pace and keep up with production goals
