About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President Intellectual Property Counsel to join their legal team. The successful candidate will be a key leader in shaping and protecting the company's intellectual property assets, developing and implementing a comprehensive intellectual property strategy, and ensuring that it is aligned with the business objectives. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including patent, trademark, and trade secret protection, as well as collaboration with internal clients on strategic objectives, IP portfolio development, and various legal matters such as patent disputes and commercial launch strategies. The Vice President IP Counsel will also be responsible for managing the IP budget, overseeing the company's patent portfolio, and providing clear legal guidance across the business.Applicants must have a technical undergraduate degree, preferably in the biological or chemical science fields, as well as a Masters or Ph.D. technical degree, a JD degree, and be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. A minimum of 15-20 years of experience in intellectual property law within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is required, with a focus on biological products. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in patent law, prosecution, and IP litigation, including significant experience in contentious matters. Strong leadership skills, excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical abilities are essential, as is the ability to influence key stakeholders and balance legal and business considerations. The role demands a strategic thinker who can manage complexity and ambiguity, prioritize tasks, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
