About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Vice President of Underwriting to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in scaling and evolving the underwriting process, ensuring it remains a strategic advantage, particularly in the small to midsize business segment. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading underwriting teams, refining underwriting strategies, and overseeing the achievement of business and financial goals. This includes partnering with various teams to operationalize the underwriting strategy, establishing metrics for oversight, and making necessary changes to support the company's growth and profitability. The role also involves representing the company in external engagements, building relationships with key stakeholders, and demonstrating a commitment to the company's core competencies.Candidates for this position should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 10 years of senior leadership experience in underwriting within the health plan industry. Strong financial and business acumen, demonstrated experience in underwriting self-funded and level-funded health plans, as well as medical stop-loss risk, are essential. The role requires excellent executive communication and negotiation skills, a strong technical underwriting background, and a proven track record of using creative strategies to advance the practice of underwriting. The ideal candidate will be committed to leading and developing a high-performing team and have experience in using technology to optimize underwriting performance.
