Confidential is Hiring a Payroll Processor Near Elgin, IL

The Payroll Processor administers all aspects related to paying employees within the organization for multiple federal employer identification numbers (FEINs) across the United States. This role is responsible for reviewing time sheets, addressing discrepancies, enter additional data, verifying tax withholdings for new hires, calculating unused vacation accruals for separating employees, processing payroll according to schedule, and periodically processing off-cycle payrolls.

This role reports to the Director of HR

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct weekly and bi-weekly payroll. Reviewing timecards and other timekeeping methods, for every employee checking for accuracy and variances; including verifying time sheet data and PTO applied, retro earnings, commission calculations, etc…
  • Issue and record payroll adjustments related to previous errors or retroactive increases
  • Follows company payroll policies and procedures
  • Reports hours worked by temporary employees to the appropriate agencies and investigate any issues
  • Address and resolve issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors
  • Receive approval from upper management for periodic bonuses, commissions, or other supplemental wages as required.
  • Maintain new/terminated list of employees.
  • Keep work instructions and / or procedures up to date for the payroll function
  • Maintain related employee/payroll records, tax reports and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments.
  • Assist in processing new hires in the HRIS system
  • Processes employee’s annual pay increases in payroll
  • Maintenance of HRIS; process incoming employment status updates
  • Collaborate with the HR team to resolve issues with the payroll vendor, tax agencies, or staffing agencies.
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies in payroll reports by interacting with the Finance team.
  • Assist Finance team with month end close as it relates to labor

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum two years HRIS experience; Paycor preferred
  • Multi-state payroll experience required
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel skills – pivot tables, v-lookups, ability to put together reports
  • Strong mathematical skills, highly analytical
  • This position requires a High school diploma and 2-3 years previous payroll experience. An Associate Degree in Accounting or Business is preferred.
  • Minimal travel– may need to occasionally work an atypical schedule to meet employee needs.
  • Hybrid schedule – After onboarding will work from home two days a week.
  • Language – Bilingual Spanish a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
