Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist who has a basic understanding of accounting priciples to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing and ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees. This is a vital role within our organization, as you will play a key role in maintaining employee satisfaction and ensuring compliance with payroll taxes and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for employees using our payroll software Paychex
- Calculate and enter employee hours, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
- Analyze payroll data to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies
- Maintain accurate records of employee attendance through time & attendance
- Prepare payroll reports for management review
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely manner
- Assist with year-end payroll activities such as W-2 preparation
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and regulations
- Proficient in using payroll software (e.g., Paychex)
- Familiarity with general ledger accounting and double-entry bookkeeping
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
- Knowledge of out of state tax regulations related to payroll processing
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees regarding payroll matters
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
