The Dental Receptionist is a liaison between the doctor and the patient. They provide a calm and warm environment for patients who are otherwise anxious and concerned about how to afford dentistry. They prepare financial estimates from treatment recommended by the doctor and present financials to patients in a calm and professional manner. They are knowledgeable about the treatment and timelines, the doctor’s schedule, and they are prepared to negotiate financial arrangements with the clients.

Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Greet and check in patients
  • Audit patient charts to ensure patient forms are complete and up to date
  • Evaluate patient insurance plans to ensure eligibility, accuracy, and coverage percentages
  • Discuss treatment needs with patients
  • Estimate patient out of pockets for treatment, collect & post payments
  • Evaluate patient charts to properly schedule appointments with providers, as indicated by clinical notes
  • Contact existing patients to schedule incomplete treatment plans
  • Evaluate schedule to identify new patients, verify that all necessary information has been received from the prior provider’s office, verify completion status of new patient forms.
  • Handle heavy phone volume
  • Act as a liaison between patients & doctors
  • General office duties (printing/faxing/computer data entry, etc.)

Requirements

  • Superior customer service skills, with the ability to infuse personality, empathy, and enthusiasm into each patient contact
  • Dental business office experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Excellent computer skills, Dentrix Ascend experience is a plus
  • Willingness to learn and grow
