This role involves aligning inpatient medical care across the adult services spectrum, improving the interface of inpatient services, and developing consistent roles and responsibilities for physician leaders. The CMO is also responsible for standardizing medical care policies and procedures while identifying and justifying variations based on clinical care grounds. The ideal candidate will have a medical degree, at least ten years of progressive management or leadership experience in an academic medical center or large healthcare system, and a current California MD license.Candidates for the CMO position must demonstrate a deep understanding of local and national quality and safety regulations, standards, and trends, as well as the ability to drive results and lead change initiatives. Excellent communication skills, business acumen, and the ability to promote solid interpersonal relationships are essential. The CMO should be an effective visionary, capable of leading diverse constituencies, and be adept at making decisions based on facts and sound judgment. A commitment to obtaining a California medical license within one year of employment and an active medical license in at least one US state are also required.
