Comunilife is Hiring a Security Guard Near New York, NY
Comunilife is looking to fill their Security Guard vacancies with experienced professionals. Comunilife is a premier provider of housing, mental health, and HIV/AIDS services in New York City. Our programs benefit more than 2,500 people each year helping them overcome challenges related to extreme poverty; chronic homelessness; serious behavioral and medical issues; and, linguistic and acculturation barriers. The positions are located in the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn. Comunilife offers a generous benefits and paid time off package to full time employees. The salary for these positions is up to $15.30 per hour.
Responsibilities Include:
- Continually monitors the front door, check all incoming/out coming traffic of clients, visitors and staff
- Ensure clients log in and out, incidents and activity is documented and facility and outside courtyards are patrolled frequently or as scheduled
- Clear public areas of loitering residents and attend mandated in-service training programs and meetings
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
- Responsible, organized, punctual and efficient with ability to perform within a team and accomplish multiple assignments simultaneously
- Must be able to deal tactfully and diplomatically with other employees, Federal, State, and City officials, professional and technical groups, clients, and the general public
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of a New York State licensed Security Guard
REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- 8 or 16 hour certificate is required
- NYS Security license required
- High School diploma preferred with at least one or two years of experience in security.
- Experience with HIV/AIDS afflicted individuals, chronic mental illness, substance abuse population a plus
- Bilingual skills in English/Spanish is preferred.

Our Medical Respite program provides short-term supportive housing and case management services to multiply-challenged patients leaving hospital care without a viable home in which to recuperate. Comunilife is a leader in the field of Latina adolescent suicide prevention. Our Life is Precious Program, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2018, provides non-clinical services to girls ages 12 to 17 in the Bronx (2008), Brooklyn (2009) and Queens (2015).Activities include academic support, creative arts therapies, music lessons, wellness activities and concrete family services, are designed to reduce the risk factors associated with Latina adolescent suicide.
