Intermountain Centers and its statewide affiliates, Community Partners Integrated Healthcare, Pinal Hispanic Council, Intermountain Health Center, Intermountain Foster Care, Behavioral Consultation Services and MHRI Housing are currently recruiting career-minded individuals interested in opportunities within the largest adult and child service continuum in Arizona.
General Summary: The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) provides peer support services to adult members under the supervision of the Program Director. The PSS will function as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serve as a member advocate, providing information and peer support for members in outpatient settings. The PSS performs a wide range of tasks to assist peers in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process recovery resources such as books, tapes, pamphlets and other written materials will be utilized by PSS in the provision of services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reports to assigned location as scheduled; follows agency attendance policies; submits accurate record of hours worked on a weekly basis.
  • Utilizes a strengths-based approach along with personal experiences while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with members.
  • Provides members an example of what they can strive for in their recovery and instills the belief that recovery is real and possible.
  • Must be able to understand and implement individual treatment plan goals by providing behavioral health covered peer support services to members
  • Works with various community organizations and resources to provide additional support for members, particularly as they transition from recovery back into the general community. This can include continued healthcare, housing, job assistance, and additional treatment services as well as support in the task of finding or re-integrating with friends, family, and outside communities.
  • Conducts individual and group services.
  • Adheres to all licensing requirements for the site/program/agency.
  • Transports members to locations in the community as needed for service delivery, using a motor vehicle.
  • Maintains required vehicle documentation; maintains cleanliness and maintenance protocols for agency vehicles.
  • Closely observes members, to ensure their safety, and appropriate participation in program activities.
  • Completes progress notes, incident reports and other data sheets within the required timeframe.
  • Works with members of the treatment team and other programs ensuring service provision to members.
  • Participates in supervision as required.
  • Participates in clinical rounds or care management process as required.
  • Adheres to agency policy on the provision of services and administrative role.
  • Attends CFT’s and ART’s when required; attends regularly scheduled Team Meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Follows agency purchasing and accounting procedures.
  • Completes all training required by licensing and/or agency, or as requested by supervisor.
  • Renders emergency aid, safeguards members’ rights, including reporting of abuse when required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or necessary as they relate to the general nature of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education – HS/GED required.
  • Experience - Past personal experience within the behavioral health system or child welfare system required.
  • Certification – Peer Support Certification from Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) or another approved provider.
Regulatory:
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
  • CPR, First Aid & AED certification, if required (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License, 39-month Motor Vehicle Report, proof of vehicle registration and liability insurance that meet company insurance requirements, if required.
  • Negative TB test result, if required (Employer provides).
