Job Duties

Are you a dynamic, energetic, multi-tasking executive administrator ready for the next chapter of your career? Do you seek out challenges and want to be surrounded by art and culture and the people who make it happen? If so, we hope you will consider applying to become the VMFA's Executive Administrator to the Chief Curator and Deputy Director for Art and Education.
Working in a high pressure, fast-paced environment, you will serve as the Executive Assistant to the Chief Curator and Deputy Director for Art and Education at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Responsibilities include coordinating internal and external meetings, making travel arrangements, creating PowerPoint presentations, executive briefings, managing projects, producing reports, and answering correspondence and phone calls. This position will also assist on special projects for staff members that report to the Chief Curator and Deputy Director for Art and Education.

Minimum Qualifications

Flexibility in terms of handling multiple tasks; ability to prioritize and work under pressure; willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as required; ability to work as a team member, occasionally helping other areas of the office; ability to work independently. Requires high level of confidentiality and discretion. A high degree of proficiency in PowerPoint and the Microsoft Office suite is essential, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills and abilities.

Additional Considerations

Experience and/or training typically gained from graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience as an Executive Assistant in a fast-paced office environment preferred.
