PennDOT is currently looking for an assistant highway maintenance manager to join their team. This role involves assisting the County Maintenance Manager and overseeing maintenance operations in a designated area of the Lehigh County Maintenance Organization.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this position, you will be responsible for assessing the necessary maintenance tasks to be carried out within a specific area of the county maintenance department.

This involves analyzing the condition of highways, negotiating for the required workforce and equipment, and pinpointing any urgent requirements for the region.

You will also be tasked with evaluating the performance of subordinate foremen in executing planned activities and intervening when needed to guarantee that goals are achieved.

While you will receive guidance from the county manager, you will have a significant degree of autonomy in devising and implementing work plans.

Your work will be regularly assessed to ensure that the objectives of the highway maintenance program are being met effectively.

This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong leadership skills, and the ability to make informed decisions to optimize maintenance operations within the assigned region.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• Salary : In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

• One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement :

This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
