Description

The Education and Labor Cabinet’s mission is to educate, prepare and train Kentucky’s current and future workforces. Our goal is to create and make continuous improvements to an education and workforce system that prepares Kentuckians for the 21st century workforce, while helping businesses find the skilled workers they need to compete and create jobs in the Commonwealth.
The Career Development Office provides workforce services to Kentuckians who are unemployed, under-employed, or searching for a new career path. We also provide a variety of services, such as assistance with unemployment insurance, business downsizing, labor market information, job postings, and recruiting and training.
This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non- merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:

• Manages the overall operation of the Louisville service office providing workforce and employment services.
• Manages services provided by employees as directed by management and in accordance with local workforce board strategies.
• Works collaboratively with the Regional Program Manager, One Stop Operator, and partner agencies to ensure effective and coordinated service delivery.
• Recommends & participates in process improvement strategies.
• Ensures programs and services are provided in compliance.
• Answers inquiries and resolves complaints. Monitors expenditures.
• Runs, monitors, and submits required reports.
• Assigns and evaluates the work of employees and seeks to improve performance.
• Recommends and submits personnel actions.
• Initiates appropriate corrective actions.
• Assesses training needs; seeks and provides training opportunities.
• Meets with employers and community organizations to promote and provide information about services available through the Career Center.
• Represents office at meetings, on work groups, and task forces.
