Description

The SBDC is the largest network of business advisors in the state, providing technical assistance to more small business and underrepresented businesses than any other organization in the state. Our advising is free and confidential, and we pride ourselves in being of service to all of our communities in the state of Oregon. We need your help to continue to deliver these amazing services to our small business communities.

The South Wasco Business Navigator functions as an integral part of the SBDC by supporting our numerous partners in South Wasco, assisting entrepreneurs and small business owners in overcoming inequities and barriers in their entrepreneurial journey. The Navigator provides entrepreneur support, project management, and values effective communication. This position completes a wide variety of tasks based on what is needed by South Wasco Business Bridge participants, SBDC clients, and Maupin Works members. The Navigator must be flexible with excellent organization skills, understanding of business, and office-related activities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Support and guide individuals to resources to start, grow, or recover their business. 
  2. Communicate, coordinate, and track goals for program participants.
  3. Work closely with SWBB to implement, evaluate, and improve programs.
  4. Promote participant and member engagement in program meetings and activities.
  5. Host a welcoming and accessible environment at Maupin Works for South Wasco Business Bridge participants, Small Business Development Center clients, coworking members, networking and event attendees
  6. Respond quickly to inquiries via phone, text, and email 
  7. Support and guide individuals to resources to start, grow, or recover their business. 
  8. Communicate, coordinate, and track goals for program participants 
  9. Work closely with SWBB to implement, evaluate, and improve programs
  10. Complete intake systems for SWBB program participants, SBDC clients, and prospective MW members
  11. Promote participant and member engagement in program meetings and activities
  12. Schedule and organize outreach and engagement events to promote SWBB, and SBDC programs
  13. Lead outreach and engagement efforts to build relationships with other relevant businesses, community-based organizations, financial service organizations, and networks that impact, inform, and support the clients and communities we seek to serve 
  14. Support and engage in activities to further the mission, vision, and strategic plan of SWBB, SBDC, and MW organizations 
  15. Use web-based database to track and record client counseling activities and hours, and submit written reports upon request.
  16. Require limited travel throughout the central gorge.
  17. Maintain a high degree of client confidentiality and follow policies and procedures of the Oregon Small Business Development Center Network and Columbia Gorge Community College.
  18. Be an SBDC and small business ambassador

Requirements

EXPERIENCE

Experience in working with numerous stakeholders and community partners, and managing projects and/or programs. Demonstrated experience in communication, outreach and community engagement. Experience providing technical assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurs in a plus.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent 

Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience
