Position Purpose

The Facilities Assistant works under the supervision of the Executive Director of Facility Management and is responsible for supporting overall management and operations of CEC’s Colorado Springs Campus. This position will work in close collaboration with the site Facility Manager, Head of School, and other administration on campus to ensure all facilities needs are met.

Job Duties

• Upholds CEC’s beliefs found on the CEC website.
• Support a high level of quality, cleanliness, and professionalism to promote an optimal learning environment.
• Triage work ticket requests and communicate with school staff through work completion.
• Survey school buildings and campus to identify and report maintenance issues.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks including the use of a ladder and power tools.
• Assist the site Facility Manager to complete complex tasks and projects.
• Communicate, meet, and work with vendors and contractors on site including landscapers, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and more.
• Organize and maintain storage spaces.
• Respond to urgent maintenance requests at the direction of CEC leadership.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements to Perform the Duties Successfully

• Climb and descend stairs.
• Tolerate all kinds of weather (above 20).
• Lift 40-50 lbs. and be able to carry for short distances.
• Able to work on ladders and perform overhead work.
• Able to work in the interior and exterior of building, on roofs, and on school grounds.

Qualifications

• High school degree with professional certification or Associate’s degree in related field preferred.
• Interest or experience in maintenance, handywork, building operations, and a desire to develop professionally.
