We are hiring safety oriented Equipment Operators to join our amazing New Construction team in the Richmond area. Equipment Operators work with specialized light construction equipment. They must be able to do this efficiently and safely. They must be able to dig or backfill trenches for underground piping systems The work requires considerable skill in manipulating equipment and constant focus in order to prevent accidents.

A day in the life:
Safely and skillfully operate an all-terrain forklift, backhoe, excavator, skid steer, lifts and other related construction equipment.
Follow all appropriate safety procedures in the transportation of cargo
Report equipment defects, accidents or damage to supervisor
Maintain equipment in proper operating condition by performing preventive maintenance tasks
Train authorized personnel on the proper operation of construction equipment
Visually assess digging areas before the operation of construction equipment
Comprehend and make inferences from written materials such as equipment operations manuals
Make fine, highly controlled muscular movements to adjust the position of a control mechanism
Determine necessary equipment repairs by perceiving malfunctions
Load and unload construction materials on job sites from trucks into buildings
You should have:
A high school diploma or equivalent
Safe driving practices with various types of construction equipment
Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and DOT requirements
The ability to obtain VDOT flagger certification
A understanding of traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved in construction equipment operation
Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include varying shifts, short notice assignments, emergencies, nights, weekends and overtime (scheduled and unscheduled), as required
