CodePath is Hiring a Remote Head of People

About the Role

Location: Remote

Duration: FTE

Reporting to: VP of HR and Finance

Compensation: $150,000 to $175,000 per year

CodePath is at an inflection point as we launch our 5-year strategic plan to scale our organization in its next phase of exponential growth in order to increase our impact from 10,000 students served annually to 100,000 students served annually. We recognize that the impact and goals achieved so far are due to the incredible people at CodePath and that in order to realize our ambitious vision of fundamentally transforming technical education in the US we need to continue to attract the best people and set them up for success and growth once they join. Today, we are a fully remote organization of 50 full-time employees with large seasonal hiring surges of contractors and part-time employees to support our programs and offerings. Our new five year strategic plan calls for us to scale to over 175 full-time employees and an exponential increase in seasonal hiring, which will require expert People leadership as we navigate major human capital decisions.

Therefore we are searching for our first Head of People who will oversee all aspects of the People function including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, HR policies and procedures, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations as well as providing strategic guidance and support to senior leadership on all People matters.

In this role you will:

  • Lead a people first organization that supports CodePath’s overall mission and vision, making CodePath one of the world’s "Best Companies to Work For"

  • Build employee-oriented people practices and initiatives that exemplify and reinforce our high-performance culture - one that values ambition, ownership, experimentation, collaboration and first principles thinking, strengthening our culture as we scale from 50 to 175 over the next 5 years

  • Oversee and direct core People functions: talent acquisition, talent management, total rewards, employee relations, compliance, organizational design, training and development, employee engagement, and people database systems

  • Collaboratively strategize and implement organizational design, systems, processes, and programs that optimize org-wide productivity and employee well-being

Key Activities

Strategy

  • Own the development of our employee centric and data driven People strategy at CodePath to align with business goals and growth targets

  • Lead and grow an existing Talent Acquisition team of three and a HR team of two

  • Act as a strategic partner to CodePath leadership team and managers by providing advice and counsel to senior leaders on topics like workforce planning, org design, and team dynamics

Talent Acquisition and Management

  • Manage the talent function, talent branding, and candidate experience

  • Design and execute initiatives that cultivate a high-performance culture including: a performance review/promotion program, a world-class onboarding experience, and a learning and development program to help employees and CodePath achieve meaningful growth

  • Implement strategies around onboarding, offboarding, compensation, benefits, talent management, employee engagement, succession planning, and employee relations

  • Monitor key People metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and make data-informed adjustments to optimize productivity

Compliance

  • Develop, audit, and refine employment policies and practices to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across all People programs

Collaboration

  • Design and implement programs that foster a sense of belonging, engagement and collaboration across a globally distributed team

Qualifications

  • Experience in a high-growth, fast paced, remote, and ideally engineering-centric environment

  • Functional expertise across all general areas of HR, including organizational design, planning, employee experience, talent and performance management, compensation, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, policy writing & compliance

  • Broad leadership and organizational development experience including direct team/people management

  • Proven success in designing, developing, and supporting organization-wide talent programs that cover performance and talent development, coaching, succession and headcount planning, and data analytics in a remote-first work environment

  • Significant experience providing strategic counsel and business partnership at the most senior levels within an organization

  • Experience making key decisions regarding use of EOR/PEO in regards to contractors, seasonal and international employees

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills with experience supporting employees at all levels of the organization

  • Mix of strategic acumen and hands-on experience, thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
