What will you do as a Facilities Maintenance Technician?

As part of the Operations Team, the Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facility and production equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the company’s business goals and objectives. This position executes directives from the Operations Manager to maintain facility appearance and operation along with maximizing machine and building system efficiencies. The Facilities Maintenance technician has responsibility for monitoring as well as analyzing overall maintenance functions to identify areas of continuous improvement. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform facility maintenance.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Ensure all facility equipment is maintained up to company standards. 
  • Assist in equipment change-overs and production equipment is maintained at company standards.
  • Analyze maintenance functions to identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to maintain facilities’ equipment and the production machines.
  • Monitor and repair boilers, HVAC, and compressed air systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Perform maintenance tasks at other Coca-Cola Bottling Company High Country facilities as needed.
  • Assist with ground maintenance and snow removal as needed.
  • Generate parts request to ensure adequate inventory.
  • Generate and complete work orders as assigned.
  • Adhere to good operational practices and safety standards.
  • Keep up to date on information and technology affective functional area(s).
  • Conform with, abide by, and re-enforce all regulations, policies, work procedures, and processes.

 JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to follow manufacturer’s specifications and schematics.
  • Mechanical skills in both building and machinery systems.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and formulate solutions on production machinery and building mechanical systems.
  • Electrical problem diagnosis and repair.
  • Welding skills, construction abilities, and plumbing and mechanical system repair. 
  • Adaptability – Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
  • Communication – Ability to effectively, clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Decision Making – Display willingness to make critical decisions while following company practices.
  • Enthusiasm – Ability to bring energy to the day to day as well as long-term tasks and plans.
  • Judgment – Display willingness to make timely decisions and exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
  • Planning & Organizing – Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Refrigeration/HVAC Trade or Vocational certification preferred.
  • 2-5 years of industrial building maintenance experience required.
  • 1 years of mechanical/electrical experience preferred.
  • Prior diagnostic/troubleshooting and preventative maintenance experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude. 
  • Basic computer skills. 
  • May be required to supply hand tools.

  • Continuing education to maintain any certifications held and a current working knowledge of new technologies related to our business.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work environment; must be able to work standing for long periods of time.
  • Maintenance work involves but is not limited to, heights, confined space, and outdoors.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Work involves walking, talking and hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus when working on small components.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

The following are provided by the company:

  • Hearing protection

  • Welding hood and other welding related protective gear
  • Fall protection.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately noisy due to manufacturing and/or warehousing equipment in operation.
  • Must be willing to travel to other company locations approximately 30%. 
  • Some areas are slippery due to the production process.
  • Warehouse area has heavy forklift traffic.
  • Outside in all weather
