Job Summary : The bar staff will be a very important part of getting Coastal open. These employees will be the first staff members our guests will meet.
The ability of our bartenders to quickly build a relationship with each customer is a must. The bartender has the capability to provide that extra touch of customer service that will make each guest feel welcome.
Below are the tasks that each bartender must perform on a daily basis to ensure the success of daily operations behind the bar.
Mix traditional and creative cocktails that are consistent with the drink recipes provided to all bartenders. Accurately process cash and credit card payments from customers.
Ensure the bar and all-encompassing elements are thoroughly cleaned before and after the shift. This includes glasses, bottles, and bar tools.
Be fully aware of all food safety regulations and maintain a clean working space. Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences and pursue a potential up sale on the beverage.
Build a genuine rapport with customers to gain their trust and a new loyal customer. Maintain open communication with the barback to ensure the bar is stocked before the shift and remains stocked throughout the shift.
Support and communicate with the management team and other departments at Coastal. Compliance with all local, state, and federal liquor laws.
Essential Qualifications and Experience : A strong understanding of drink mixing, drink recipes, proper use of bar tools, and up to date bar techniques.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a positive and engaging personality. Basic math and computer skills.
Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing up to 8 consecutive hours and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders and the ability to lift 25 lbs.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be 21 years or older. Prior bartending / barback / drink mixology / barkeep experience is a plus.
Willingness to work at peak hours, which may include evenings, holidays, and weekends. The ability to work in a warm / hot environment.
