Founded in 1971, Clifton Steel Company (the Company) is a nationally recognized leader in the manufacturing of military armor plate and commercial specialty steel products. Clifton has served the armor plate market for over forty years and is the premier industry supplier of many of its commercial products. The Company is a specialist in abrasion and impact resistant steel fabrication, particularly for quenched and tempered alloy and manganese steel. What You Will Do/Need (Job Summary)

The Assistant Plant Manager holds accountability and responsibility for the plant’s production operations daily. The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for the shop floor production, as well as leadership of the plant’s Production Supervisors. The Production Supervisors will report directly into the Assistant Plant Manager.

Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)

• Helping, leading, and guiding production team to ensure daily metrics are achieved
• This is a Hands-On position – Operating various equipment to help achieve daily metrics is expected
• Maintains a clean and safe plant and is responsible for meeting established production goals

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required)

• Relevant knowledge and experience working with steel
• Experience leading successful production teams
• General manufacturing proficiency
• Strong mechanical aptitude, specifically understanding industrial equipment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• This job operates in a factory environment. This role requires the incumbent to have shop floor presence
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Exposed to moving equipment, lift trucks, airborne fumes, and outside weather conditions
• Sit (10%), stand (90%), lift up to 50lbs, walk, bend and stoop
• Required to wear PPE that includes hardhat, safety glasses, safety vest and steel toe shoes. 
• Noise level is occasionally moderate
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to listen, coach and instruct team members. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk and use manual dexterity.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

• This is a first shift position however, presence on second shift will be required occasionally as this position is accountable for all shifts and their daily production.

Travel

• Minimal Travel but it could be required a few times per year

Compensation for this role is negotiable based on experience.
