These duties include, but are not limited to: changing filters, greasing pumps, cleaning electrical coils, changing belts, greasing and changing bearings, servicing pumps & motors, and servicing/maintaining/tracking equipment and inventory relevant to the department. This position reports to the Senior HVAC Technician or HVAC Technician Supervisor. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPerform a variety of tasks in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems and equipmentRead plans and blueprints in the performance of workInspect all electrical and mechanical equipment regularlyTroubleshoot all electrical motors, controllers, and startersReplace blown fuses, burned out coils, switches, circuit breakers, and other replaceable electrical equipmentInstall electric operated meters for utilitiesAbility to work safely from equipment such as, but not limited to ladders, lifts, and scaffolding Ability to transport more than 50 pounds safely and independently Ability to work independently, performing all duties relevant to the position Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts Perform other job-related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIESKnowledge of the principles and methods of electrical installation, repair, and maintenance; occupational hazards and safety precautions; and industrial electrical equipmentKnowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, motors, refrigeration/freezer equipment, etc.Knowledge of plumbing including valves, pipes, pipes connectors, etc.Effective oral and written communication skills as it relates to giving and receiving instruction; identifying problems and providing resolutions; and interpersonal communication for effective working relationships Operational skills for any and all necessary tools and equipment required in the performance of duties; translate and follow plans and blueprints; physical attributes necessary to work in confined areas (ex: manipulating wiring) and determine color/depth for job specific duties JOB STANDARDS/QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or equivalentCompletion of standard apprenticeship in the electrical tradeWork experience: Three (3) years full-time work experience in electrical, mechanical and/or plumbing tradePossession of a valid driver’s license EQUIPMENT STANDARDSWork activities routinely involve work with, but not limited to manual and power-driven tools, electrical supplies, etc. Equipment can weigh between 25-50 pounds. JOB LOCATIONThe Maintenance Building located on the main campus of Cleveland State Community College is the primary workplace.
