Summary Responsibilities:

• Act as a coach and mentor to managers in Safety leadership and assist them in executing their Safety responsibilities.

• Develop site-specific safety procedures to effectively implement the Health and SafetyManagement Systems program to drive injury and fatality prevention.

• Conduct safety reviews by providing technical expertise in the FPT Health and Safety program, protocols, and criteria.

• Complete monthly safety meetings and certification training at sites within Michigan. May be required to travel to other states to provide these services.

• Provide technical expertise and participate in injury/incident investigations to identify root cause analysis and provide recommendations to prevent a recurrence.

• Maintain technical expertise and counsel management on applicable Local, State, Federal, and Corporate Health and Safety regulations.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in safety management or related sciences is preferred, but consideration will be given to non-degreed candidates who possess equivalent work experience of 5-7 years.

• Minimum of 5 years experience in health and safety role.

• OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.

• Experience training individuals and groups on safety and health issues.

• Comfortable in a manufacturing environment working with all levels in an organization.

• Strong verbal communication skills.

• Flexible schedule and willing to work flexible hours.

• Must have intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to make decisions relevant to job duties regularly with guidance from established policy, regulatory framework, and from the Safety Manager.

• Operations management experience is considered an asset.

• Related experience in the scrap or construction industry would be an asset.

• Must have a valid driver's license.

• Willing to travel up to 25%.

• Pre-employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required.
