Clayton Early Learning is Hiring a Market Lead Near Denver, CO

About the role:

The Clayton Cares Market Lead will help us sustain and grow our food access and distribution efforts to Clayton families as well as the surrounding community. The Market Lead will build strong relationships across team members and departments and become a trusted and valued partner in helping to advance the organization’s mission and core values. This role will work alongside our health and wellness team and collaborate with staff across the organization to promote market hours, offerings, events, and new partnerships. The lead will build positive relationships with others to secure volunteers on a regular basis to help support the market hours each week.The Market Lead will drive the day-to-day operations of the market, support the Director in strategically expanding operations to include community partners, while making recommendations for new and valuable partnerships to enhance the market experience and ensure the needs of our families and community are being met. Provides oversight and administers daily market program activities to successfully meet the mission and vision of the organization.

What we want you to do:

FUNCTIONAL TEAM LEAD 
  • Responsible for inventory control including placing orders with multiple vendors to ensure the market is well stocked each week.
  • Facilitates operations on market days with the help of staff and volunteers.
  • Oversees and ensures all daily market operations are met, with the support of the market coordinator, including delivery management, stocking, cleaning, organization, internal and external partner requirements, signage and other necessary elements to successfully run the market.
  • Responsible for training new market staff and provides support in guiding, monitoring and leadingMarket Coordinator.
  • Collaborates with the marketing team on promotional materials, as needed.
  • Partners with Health and Wellness staff and kitchen team on coordination of orders for supplies.
  • Supports the Director with Clayton’s Seed to Stomach programs and curriculum, as needed.
  • Assists Director in managing existing partnerships and ensures compliance with all requirements and record keeping.
  • Identify and fill in gaps to provide broad and robust offering of foods and supplies.
  • Supports Director in overseeing the budget and reporting to grantee(s) supporting the Clayton Cares Market.
  • Identifies market gaps and issues that need addressing and trouble shoots, collaborating with other departments to implement solutions.
  • Partners with Development staff to cultivate a steady volunteer base while overseeing the management of a structured, coordinated Market volunteer program while creating an worth-while, supportive and valuable experience for our volunteers.
VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
  • Lead volunteer coordination for the day-to-day Pantry operations and Pantry Programs; delegates tasks to Market Coordinator as needed.
    • Responsible for volunteer recruitment and retention for the market in collaboration with Development team.
    • Communicates and works with staff across the organization, trustees, and executive team members to secure the volunteers necessary to successfully run the market.
    • Assist in scheduling volunteers for their shifts
    • Assist in making follow up phone calls and emails
    • Manage online volunteer sign-up (Sign-up Genius)
    • Coordinates orientation of volunteers to the market and specific shift
    • Develop volunteer recruitment materials, as needed.
    • Recognizes staff and volunteers for their support of the market.
GRANT COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT 
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all grant provisions and partner requirements within the market.
  • Manages, plans, and implements all market goals and requirements to maintain compliance. 

What we are looking for and what you must have:

  • An understanding of the importance of food security and the food system and its impact on community health, specifically children, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to unload, lift, and carry weight of up to 50lbs, on most days.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills; implements creative ways to solve problems while remaining calm in stressful situations. 
  • Data analysis and management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize; can take initiative with a sense of urgency and motivation 
  • Adaptive and experienced working in environments with moving parts and some ambiguity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and adapt to new software 
  • Passionate commitment to and a sense of urgency for the importance of early childhood development and taking a whole-child, whole-family approach. 
  • Knowledge of local trends in food insecurity a plus, particularly as applied to children and families.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize accordingly.
  • Skilled at managing multiple vendors and partners and securing volunteers and other resources for market and event success.
  • Strong writing and communications skills. 
  • Self-motivated and efficient
  • Knows how to build cross-functional relationships across all levels and functions within an organization. 
  • Knowledge of economic, cultural, and societal challenges of ethnically diverse communities preferred.
  • Current PPD-TB and physical examination
  • Successfully pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal background checks
  • Pass a National Sex Offender Registry Check
