The senior revenue accountant will perform all aspects of revenue management, including managing revenue streams from oil or gas production, analyzing production trends and price forecasts, and developing revenue strategies to ensure long-term profitability. They will monitor and analyze financial data. Additionally, the senior revenue accountant will work closely with production staff to ensure accurate measurement and reporting of oil or gas volumes.

Primary Job Responsibilities :

• Organize workloads and staff assignments as well as train, motivate, and evaluate assigned staff.
• Review regulatory reports as well as severance tax reports with various state and federal regulatory reporting agencies.
• Prepare month end revenue accruals to support the month end financial reporting process.
• Prepare monthly revenue check-write process for accuracy and reasonableness.
• Prepare state royalty and tax reports and payments.
• Ensure revenue received is verified against all purchaser payments and purchaser payments agree to the company’s metered volumes.
• Prepares and explains detailed revenue variance analysis as part of monthly close.
• Serves as the key contact for inquiries from other departments, owners, and audits.
• Assure all work performed adheres to CIVI standards.
• Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.
• Maintain all revenue-related SOX controls; participate in all controls testing by both internal and external auditors.
• Lead, mentor and motivate junior accountants or financial analysts, providing guidance, support, and training to enhance skills and the team’s performance.
• Help in identifying training needs and assist in ongoing coaching and development opportunities for team members to improve their accounting and industry knowledge.
• Assist upper management in resolving complex accounting issues or challenges that arise in upstream operations.

Education & Experience :

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, or Finance, or an equivalent required.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in accounting, closing, reporting, and hands-on accounting systems.
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in oil and gas required; upstream preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft 360 products (Outlook, Excel, Word) required with advanced skills in Excel in particular.
• Certified Public Accountant license a plus.
• BOLO, Excalibur, or other P2 system experience a plus.

Travel Requirements :

• Work is performed at a CIVI location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
• Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.
• Travel required to the Civitas field locations.
