City of Virginia Beach is Hiring an Engineering Technician II Near Reflections, VA
The Engineering Technician I/II will review site plans, utility right of way permit applications, and other documents for accuracy, adherence to applicable regulations and design standards, and for impacts to the interests of the Public Utilities Department.
This position may be filled as either a Engineering Technician I or Engineering Technician II depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The associated pay grades and ranges are as follows:
- Engineering Technician I: G22 $47,565.90 - $73,727.15
- Engineering Technician II: G.24 $52,441.40 - $81,284.17
Engineering Technician's duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Use of personal computers, Word, Excel, GIS and other applications,
- Research and interpretation of utility records and construction plans,
- Documentation of review comments for plan and permit applications,
- Maintenance of records for plan and permit reviews, to include filing and data entry,
- Assistance in the calculation of fees and construction cost estimates,
- Field inspection of work for compliance with approved permits. Documentation of inspections with field notes and sketches,
- Attendance at meetings with developers, consultants, private utility company representatives, contractors, and other City staff,
- Coordination of projects with other Public Utilities staff and other departments,
- Providing support to Engineering staff and other related duties as assigned,
- Manage time efficiently, prioritizing multiple competing tasks while meeting stated deadlines,
- Exhibiting good interpersonal and communication skills with coworkers, consultants, permit applicants, contractors, and others,
- Operation of City vehicle, traveling to and from job sites.
Duties may change as department needs evolve.
