We're looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team to help UberEats grow its ads and promotions marketing businesses that enables eaters to discover new foods, and restaurants to grow their customer base. You'll lead and work with teams behind apps used by millions globally every day and be a part of the technical foundations and product growth for these areas. In hundreds of cities, people tap their phones to get a ride, get food delivered, or earn extra cash with Uber; we're looking for engineering leaders to help us ensure every one of those experiences is magical.

About the Role

As an Engineer Manager II within the Ads Organization at Uber, you will take on a pivotal leadership role in driving the design and implementation of a Unified Ads Platform. This platform will serve as the backbone for all our Ads products, streamlining operations and enhancing user experience across the board. You will manage a team of talented engineers, guiding them through the complexities of building and maintaining a robust, scalable, and efficient Ads infrastructure.
- What the Candidate Will Do -

• Lead, manage and grow a team of customer-focused software engineers
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team, and continuously improve software engineering practices
• Own the craftsmanship, reliability, and scalability of your solutions
• Bring a passion to stay on top of industry trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, and participate in internal and external technical communities
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, and self-organization
• Hire top performing engineering talent and maintaining our commitment to diversity and inclusion
• Collaborate with and across teams to design, build, and ship great experiences for our customers

- Basic Qualifications -

Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Programming language (e.g. C, C , Java, Python, or Go)
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of successfully leading and managing engineering teams.
• Strong technical background and hands-on experience in designing & building robust engineering platforms/products.
• A track record of delivering results in fast-paced and highly ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Preferred Qualification -

• A strong business sense and an ability to challenge and effectively partner with product managers and business stakeholders.
• 5 to 7-years full-time Software Engineering experience with 2-years full-time Engineer Management experience
• Experience in the digital advertising space building platforms or products is a plus.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
