The City of Simi Valley, home of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, was incorporated in 1969. It is a General Law City with a Council/Manager form of government. Simi Valley encompasses an area of 39 square miles and is located in the southeast portion of Ventura County. The current estimated population is 126,878, yet Simi Valley maintains a unique balance of open space and City amenities.
Outdoor recreation includes over a dozen beautiful parks, camping and picnic spots, tennis courts, two golf courses and one of the largest equestrian trail systems in the United States. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, experience in customer service, policy and legislative analysis, practices and principles of economic development, facility oversight, working with the media, and a variety of social media platforms. Strong communication skills, verbal and written are a must, as is the ability to communicate effectively with peers and the public. The Assistant to the City Manager will have a variety of responsibilities and projects, and the wherewithal to seek guidance when needed is critical. Ideal candidates will have experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, website content management, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with grant writing and administration. The Assistant to the City Manager will perform a full range of duties, including overseeing programs and projects, research, public and inter-agency relations, staff report writing, and providing high-level support to the City Manager.
