Description
Performs complex administrative, technical, educational and professional work in providing information to the general public on a broad range of programs, services, issues, and policies as it relates to the Water Resources Department;
will assist in developing, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive public information, marketing and social media program.
Reports to the Water Resources Director.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Assists with external and internal communications including news media relations, public relations, educational training, advertising, and public information pertaining to Water Resources Department.
2. Works with the Water Management Districts, FDOH, FDEP, and other governmental agencies to establish and implement conservation activities.
3. Will coordinate social media functions, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Google , CodeRED, and any other social media and community web-based outlets deemed appropriate.

5. Assists with marketing activities including but not limited to citizen surveys, development of media advertising (radio, TV and print), and marketing plans pertaining to Water Resources Department.
6. Responds to requests for information from the public and media representatives; provides information or directs requests to proper department for follow-through, and coordinates responses to citizen inquiries and complaints.

8. Generate digital and print graphics for public information, marketing and advertising efforts.
9. Participate in and potentially oversee organization and implementation of some city events / functions, fundraisers, and specialty programs.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communications, horticulture, advertising, public administration, environmental science, education or closely related field.
One to two years of experience in public education, journalism, public relations, promotional advertising or marketing, or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft computer applications (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook), and social networking media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.
Video production, photography, and editing skills preferred (knowledge of Final Cut Pro, iMovie, and / or Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and / or Lightroom and InDesign).
REQUIRED LICENSES / CERTIFICATES
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Must be able to pass a Marion County Schools background check.
