This position helps support a full-service Finance Department and plays an important role in providing high-quality, professional services to both the public and staff members. Under the supervision of the Finance Director, this position ensures the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable and performs related work as required. The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
 

• Work collaboratively with other staff to provide excellent and responsive public service
• Code or review account codes on invoices and claims, verify appropriate approval for payment
• Knowledge of general ledger codes, state and local tax codes, and budgetary items, ability to recognize various approval requirements
• Set up accounts with new vendors, complete credit applications, submit tax exemptions certificates, acquire and maintain request for taxpayer identification number, maintain accounts payable vendor records
• Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data
• Prepare and process accounts payable checks making appropriate copies for specific records retention purposes
• Knowledge of which purchases are tracked as assets, city projects, escrow development files, or other necessary tracking requirements
• Knowledge of city’s policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Maintain accounts receivable subsidiary ledgers including developer deposits, escrow accounts, and others as needed
• Maintain charitable gambling monthly returns, document receipts, file annual charitable gambling proceeds report
• Perform special assessment searches
• Maintain expense spreadsheets, provide copies of invoices as supporting documents and balance to general ledger
• Maintain antenna rental files, track leases and related documents
• Assist with cashiering and perform the daily bank deposit
• Represent the city in a courteous, responsive, and professional manner in all interactions.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
