City of Kansas City is Hiring a Public Health Specialist Near Kansas, MO

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

Full-time position available with the Health Department, Behavioral Health & Injury Prevention Division located at 2400 Troost Ave
Salary Range: $22.61-$34.48/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework schedule can be discussed with supervisor after 6-month probationary period completed

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the advancement of agendas, initiatives, activities, advocacy efforts, etc. of the Ryan White Planning Council and its 5 Sub-Committees.
  • Assists with communication efforts, including managing a database of online content for Planning Council meetings, membership, events, and initiatives.
  • Shares a broad range of information from recognized experts and resources such as the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services, CDC, the National Minority AIDS Council, the Office of Minority Health, the American Public Health Association, HIV.gov, The Prevention Institute, the Office of Women’s Health, the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services, etc., to communities and other organizations (i.e. Planning Council Members, Associates, employees, faith-based groups, sub-contractors, and other interested persons).
  • Assists with planning and engagement in community outreach, development of partners, resources, organizing, etc., to expand and inform community health improvement efforts of the Planning Council along with others in the community.
  • Provides logistical and operational support for the Planning Council and all Sub-Committees, including meetings/events venues, preparation of minutes, agendas, doing research, providing data, reports, fliers, meals; working with vendors and fiscal, and others as necessary to meet Planning Council needs and requirements.
  • Assists with supervision of interns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in the absence of the Planning Council Manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
