Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Education High School diploma or GED.

Experience Previous experience is required.

Certifications None

Licensing Must posses a valid Texas Class "C" driver's license with clear driving record.

Summary

The Seasonal Parks Laborer will perform various park maintenance tasks including mowing grass, field maintenance, applying fertilizers, clearing foliage, cleaning playgrounds and rest rooms, and repairing park equipment.

Essential Job Functions

· Maintains plants, mows, propagates, cultivates, and/or trims grass, trees, flowers, shrubs, and brush, including use of various light equipment and hand tools.

· Maintains parks, equipment, and facilities.

· Operates necessary vehicles and tools, including pickup truck, chainsaw, carpentry tools, and garden implements.

· Cleans and maintains safety standards in Parks and Recreation shop area.

· Cleans park rest rooms.

· Clears fallen limbs and foliage from park areas; and

· Assists in the construction and assembly of parks and recreation equipment.

Ancillary Job Functions

· Contributes to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

· Knowledge of park maintenance policies and procedures.

· Knowledge of and ability to use tools and landscaping equipment used in parks and grounds maintenance.

· Ability to use tape measure and other maintenance tools.

· Occupational hazards and safety precautions.

· Knowledge of basic math and its applications.

· Ability to operate light equipment.

Hand tools, cleaners

Work Environment or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

· May often be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures, humidity, noise, chemicals/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma.

· Work requires visual acuity of 20 feet or more, 20 inches or less, three dimensional vision, precise hand eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.

· Must be able to lift 60 or more pounds.
