City of Grapevine is Hiring a Contract Compliance Technician Near Grapevine, TX

Under general supervision, oversees, monitors and inspects the work of contractors engaged in the maintenance and care of City-owned parks, restrooms, facilities, median strips, right of ways, landscaped and irrigation areas and other related field maintenance and construction projects; ensures work is done according to contract specifications; and performs other related duties as assigned.1. Evaluates and inspects for quality control and performance monitoring of City contractors, including landscape, irrigation, janitorial, portable toilets, tree maintenance and other related jobs. 
2. Conducts routine inspections for landscape contractor compliance i.e. mowing, irrigation, bed maintenance, signs of vandalism, broken or malfunctioning irrigation equipment.
3. Checks and visually inspects trees in designated areas for any apparent safety concerns; reports findings to supervisor.
4. Conducts routine inspections of all restrooms and trash bins at City parks, properties, trails and Lake Parks for janitorial contractor compliance i.e. restroom cleanliness, trash removal, litter, pavilions, vandalism, graffiti and other related tasks.
5. Conducts routine inspections of all portable restrooms to ensure quality and cleanliness.
6. Checks and visually inspects park and playground facilities for structural problems, defects, vandalism or damage. 
7. Monitors contractor crews for safety compliance of traffic control, safety vests and equipment safety.
8. Prepares various maintenance related reports and provides findings to supervisor. 
9. Works with other City staff on parks maintenance GIS mapping system.
10. Makes recommendations to the City's various maintenance contracts and specification terms to ensure the City's interests are achieved.
11. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
12. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.

Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES• Knowledge and expertise in methods and techniques of proper landscaping, maintenance, irrigation and other related practices including planting, pruning and maintaining a variety of turf, ground cover, plants, shrubs, hedges and trees; principles, methods and equipment used in landscape cultivation and maintenance.
• Ability to inspect the work of contractors performing maintenance, repair and construction on City-owned parks, median strips, landscaped areas and other related field maintenance and construction projects.
• Knowledge of general horticulture, arboriculture, urban forestry and irrigation procedures.
• Knowledge of general quality control abilities.
• Knowledge of general contract development, monitoring, bid preparation, administration and project management. 
• Knowledge of safety practices and procedures within public works guidelines.
• Must have exceptional communication skills which include verbal and written, telephone, speech and email etiquette.
• Ability to operate modern computer equipment including hardware and software applications and knowledge of principles and practices of record keeping and basic report preparation.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise records, reports, correspondence and other written materials.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines; respond to public inquiries and requests; ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures; and work independently in the absence of supervision.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSA high school degree or equivalent plus a minimum of two years of experience and/or operational expertise in professional landscape, commercial cleaning or natural resource management, such as landscaping, irrigation, materials used, tree care or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, functional assessment screening (Level 1), and a Titmus vision screening.
