HIRING RANGE: $4,803- $5,406 monthly

About the Position:
As a Deputy City Clerk for the City of Grand Junction, you will perform administrative and technical duties for liquor and cannabis licensing, elections, records, and Council meeting functions. A successful candidate will perform the processing and issuing of liquor and cannabis licenses while assisting in administering municipal elections and maintaining official records and custody. You will assist customers in locating documents and information. If you have a positive attitude, are willing to learn, and can take initiative, we encourage you to apply!

About the City Clerk's Office:
The primary functions of the City Clerk's Office are to maintain the City's official records, the City's Code of Ordinances, conduct municipal elections, process and issue liquor and cannabis licenses, prepare for and staff City Council meetings, and advertise for Volunteer Boards and Commission vacancies.

Duties

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of the City Council agendas, notices, and other materials.
  • Act in the absence of the City Clerk as required including attending workshops, and City Council meetings.
  • Assist with maintaining the automated and manual records management system including the City-wide records management program.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public by letter, telephone, email, and in person; research information and provide assistance to public and municipal staff.
  • Perform notary services for City documents and the public.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • Three (3) years of administrative support and/or customer service experience.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, Notary Public Commission.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, Certified Municipal Clerk certification is desirable.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
