City of Franklin, IN is Hiring a Human Resources Generalist Near Franklin, IN

The City of Franklin, Indiana has an opening for a professional in human resources (HR). The ideal candidate will act as the HR Generalist for the City and will serve as the subject matter expert for the City’s employees by providing guidance, hands-on assistance, and recommendations to management in the areas of recruitment and staffing, HR compliance, benefits, compensation, employee relations, payroll, and training and development.

The following skills and abilities are either required or desired.

· A strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and best practices is required.

· A strong working knowledge of employment-related laws to include the: FMLA, FLSA, miliary leave, and ADAAA is required.

· The ability to quickly build strong relationships with employees in order to build trust is required.

· Strong listening, coaching, and problem resolution skills are required.

· The ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.

· The ability to plan for, complete and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while paying close attention to detail is required.

· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to perform root cause analysis is required.

· The ability to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information received, viewed, analyzed, etc. is required.

A bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) in human resources management, organizational development, industrial organizational psychology, business management, or another related field is desired and a minimum of three plus year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Previous experience working in the HR field in some form as an Assistant, Administrator, Generalist, or Manager with three years of employee relations and HR compliance experience is required. Familiarity and/or experience with recruitment and staffing, benefits, compensation, payroll, and training and development is desired. Certification from the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) with a SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP, or from the Human Resources Certification Institute with a SPHR, or PHR, is required within the first year of employment and must be maintained throughout the course of employment. Candidates must be able to work from the City offices on a daily basis.

The City of Franklin’s salary range for the job is between $55,000 and $65,000 annually. The City also provides a comprehensive list of benefits to include: paid time off, holiday pay, longevity pay, health insurance benefits, wellness program, retirement benefits, life insurance, short/long term disability insurance, and other voluntary benefit plans. This job does not provide relocation benefits.
