SEASONAL - Parks Skilled Maintenance Assistant (PT Maintenance Support)
In this position, you will support the Park’s Construction Team by performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, graffiti removal, construction, and repair duties.
This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
 
Approximate dates of employment are May-Oct. Normal work hours will be from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Total hours worked not to exceed 1040 annually.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
  • Assist crew lead in performing semi-skilled duties such as graffiti removal, painting, excavation, concrete work, demolition, driving a truck, framing, carpentry, masonry, gate installations, door installations, and park maintenance.
  • Assist in the installation and inspection of playground equipment and surfacing
  • Safely operate various hand tools, shop equipment, and city vehicles
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of:
  • Safe work practices in public work sites
  • Various power tools, hand tools, dirt work, concrete work, and carpentry
  • Operation of associated production equipment, graffiti removal machine, and vehicles
Ability to:
  • Safely operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and city vehicle
  • Wear appropriate PPE
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
  • Experience working in s maintenance enviornment
Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to work outside in all weather conditions and along high traffic areas. It also requires the ability to stand, sit, stoop, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds frequently.

The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
