City Of Charleston is Hiring an Assistant Fleet Manager Near Charleston, SC
- Oversees technicians in maintenance, servicing, and repair of equipment/vehicles.
- Assists the Fleet Service Manager in the supervision and operation of the garage/shop floor, as well as planning and directing the work of the technicians.
- Responsible for receiving and reporting of all parts inventory.
- Maintains and repairs police vehicles and equipment including trucks, sedans, SUVs, vans, diesel equipment and various other equipment.
- Disassembles engines or motors and performs general repairs.
- Installs and adjusts brakes, batteries, tires, wiring, and glass; repairs differentials, carburetors, fuel pumps, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems, etc.
- Diagnoses and repairs the light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles, components and systems, including: fuel systems, cooling systems, electrical systems, exhaust systems, ignition systems, hydraulic systems.
- Performs minor fabrication and welding.
- Assists other technicians in making diagnoses and repairs.
- Picks up and delivers vehicles and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree (AA/AS) or equivalent; and five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of one ASE certification and/or manufacture specific certifications.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Functional knowledge of Ford IDS and Ford FDRS systems.
- Functional knowledge of OBDII scan equipment
- Valid South Carolina drivers license.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain technician hand tools of type and quantities sufficient to perform with efficiency all required repair duties.
